While his family thinks he’s a pool cleaner, he’s actually a vampire hunter going after horrible creatures on his own, but even though the bounties are generous, his income isn’t actually steady.
His solution for a better paycheck and work-life balance? Join a vampire hunting union.
It’s a quirky plot but don’t expect too much camp from Netflix’s Day Shift to the detriment of action.
Yes, there’s Dave Franco as someone who wets themselves after a vampire encounter and Snoop Dog wearing a cowboy hat and wielding a modern-day Tommy gun, but the vibe of the trailer screams Bad Boys.
And, since it’s directed by JJ Perry, an acclaimed stunt expert who also was involved in John Wick, Day Shift is shaping up to be the hottest movie this summer – definitely not a “New Moon, Breaking Dawn, Eclipse” type of flick, as Jamie Foxx himself says.
The rest of the Day Shift cast includes Steve Howey, the lovable neighbor from Shameless, Meagan Good from Harlem and Minority Report, Eric Lange from Lost and recently The Man in the High Castle, and Scott Adkins, who will make you ask “Where do I know this guy from??”
Spoiler alert: Scott Adkins has, for the past decade, shown up in dozens of high profile and sleeper action hits.
Look for Day Shift on Netflix on August 12 for the premiere and buckle up for the ride!
