DJI partnered with drone pilot Ása Steinars to use the DJI FPV Drone and capture some spectacular volcano eruption footage.
The unforgettable images capture the lava streams of Mount Fagradalsfjall in Iceland, which has been erupting since March.
To capture the footage, DJI used their new DJI FPV drone, though the popular Mavic 2 Pro was also used for some shots
Ása Steinars, the drone pilot, has also posted visuals from the Fagradalsfjall erruption using the DJI FPV drone, saying that “New volcanic fissures keep opening up at the eruption site” and that “What started as one crater is now 10 majestic ones.”
DJI hasn’t said how many of the drones shooting the volcano eruption met their demise, since the temperature there can cook their internals pretty fast, but you can see in the video at least one such incident. A flying chunk of lava seems to hit one of the drones.
Other drone operators have already visited the Iceland volcano. Back in April, aerial filmmaker Stefan Forster used several DJI Mavic 2 Pro drones to capture the beauty of this event.
