If your work hours start from dawn and end up at dusk, in front of the computer, prescription glasses ae probably a given. That said, you don’t have to cause them further damage by exposure to bright light, glare and “flicker” of images. This e-ink, backlight-free monitor for your desktop could relief your eye strain #hardwaremagic
Paperlike is an 13.3-inch e-ink display from Dasung meant to act as a secondary screen for your PC or laptop. It has a pixel count of 1,600 x 1,200 or 800 x 600, depending on the configuration you’re choosing and has no need for batteries, power cord or HDMI/DVI connection. It relies on a microUSB cord that goes into your computer, from where you can also choose the way you want to setup your display: as an extension of your primary monitor or as a mirror of it.
The only problem? As you can imagine, it has an incredibly small, monochrome color pallet: only 16 levels of grayscale.
The e-ink monitor is on Indiegogo right now, where you can catch an early bird at the price of $899 and $799. Thankfully, they will ship it as early as August, when Paperlike will also hit the stores at the price of $995. Perfect timing for working outdoors!
