Just one more week to go until the star of this year’s Samsung phone lineup will be up for testing. Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus will be revealed on March 29 but if you’re too curious to wait until then, check out this video to see the smartphone in action #mobilemagic
Slashleaks managed to grab a Galaxy S8 unit and play with it for a couple of seconds. The major takeaway from the clip below is the fact that, indeed, the fingerprint reader didn’t get the chance to hide under the front glass. Instead, it’s going to help you authenticate from a neat place next to the camera, on the back of the device:
The UI and overall design looks exactly as we’ve seen in previous renders which makes this phone a mighty pretty one. It also seems pretty comfortable to handle, but let’s not forget this is the standard version; the phablet is a different discussion.
Unfortunately, it attracts smudges like there’s no tomorrow, since the back of the device is made of glass, not aluminum. This particularity can be see in the latest leaked images:
There’s also a picture that suggests the camera’s bokeh capability, a feature that since being introduced by Apple on iPhone 7 Plus it inspired several manufacturers to offer it, too (Huawei, Google):
Here’s everything else we know about the upcoming release:
- the standard version will come at 5.8-inches and the Plus model, at 6.2-inches (see how big is the difference between the two, here)
- both phones will feature thin bezels, a long body with curved edges and no home button
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 will power the devices
- both versions will feature headphone jack, water resistance
- S8 will feature a 12MP rear camera that can shoot at 1,000 fps and 8MP front shooter with auto-focus
- S8 Plus is rumored to be equipped with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage (only in one country, though)
- three levels of biometric security are rumored to come with them (fingerprint, iris and facial scanning)
- the first AI virtual assistant from Samsung, Bixby (see how can it improve your experience here)
- AKG headphones
- rumored price of 799 euros/ Galaxy S8 and 899 euros/ Galaxy S8 Plus
What do you think? Can it win the title of “smartphone of the year”?
