Amazon’s Fire TV Cube owners will be receiving a new Alexa feature this week which will allow them to turn the Cube into a one-way intercom that can broadcast messages throughout the entire home.

What they need to do is just tell the Cube “Alexa tell everyone” “Alexa broadcast”  or, alternatively, “Alexa announce” and everything they say afterwards will be repeated on all the Alexa devices in the house. The message can be sent to any other Echo or Alexa-enabled devices that are registered on the user’s Amazon account.

But that’s not all: the Cube will also be capable of sending messages from home devices when it hears the doorbells or detects motion. The users can respond to them by simply asking “Alexa, show me the front door” and the camera feed will be displayed on their TV.

Of course, these announcements are optional and also fully customizable via the Alexa Announcements section in the Alexa app.

At the moment this article is being written, the feature is still being rolled out to all Fire TV Cube users throughout the U.S.
