Fossil Watches With WearOS Will Make Calls Via iPhone

Fossil’s Gen 5 smartwatch has been receiving high praises ever since it came out and now it’s finally embracing iPhone users with a new software update.

This update, which is currently rolling out, allows the smartwatch make phone calls, if an iPhone is connected to it. WearOS smartwatches have been able to connect to iPhones for a while now but regardless of that, the connectivity was not as rich in features as the one of the Apple Watch. While a number of smartwatches can tell you you’ve got a phone incoming, they don’t allow you to actually take that phone call directly on the watch.

Fossil now has figured out how to allow its latest smartwatch to achieve that but it’s worth mentioning this update is relying in Fossil proprietary software so won’t see it coming to other WearOS watches, at least not for the time being.

According to some Fossil Gen 5 users, the update also improves the calls when the device is connected to an Android phone in addition to a ‘ticking’ issue that some users reported.

If you do own a Fossil Gen 5 and haven’t received the update yet, you will have to be patient: it might take just a few days for it to get to you or even weeks, so don’t be alarmed if you don’t see any changes.
