Galaxy S8 is one good-looking phone, no question about it. But the gorgeous Infinity Display and glass chassis have one vulnerability – they can’t withstand repeated drops, bents and cracks. Tests have proven it without a doubt, so it’s no wonder that Samsung is getting ready to release a rugged version of their handset. Galaxy S8 Active has started appearing on several sites, making us believe the South Korean manufacturer will soon unveil it #mobilemagic
Samsung’ policy is to release Active versions of its flagships later in the year, catering to users who expect durability from their handsets. This is going happen this year, also – Samsung is now putting the final touches on the Galaxy S8 Active. Although there’s no official confirmation from Samsung, Netflix did let it slip that the device is going to feature “HD streaming”.
If it will hit the market next month, like Samsung usually does with its rugged flagships, what can you expect from it? First of all, not the same Infinity Display. Instead, the device might sport a flat display to increase durability. Drop, dust and water resistance is also expected to be better in this tough rendition of the S8.
The performance and features of S8 will be present in the Active, though. You’ll presumably get Bixby Home/Vision, the Always on Display, Samsung Pay and DeX and Android 7.0 Nougat. As for hardware, expect a Snapdragon 835 with an octa-core CPU, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage and a single 12MP rear camera.
We’ll come back with more details as they surface.
