You might have been good at putting on a poker face from time to time but soon, you won’t be able to hide your emotions anymore. This temporary “electronic tattoo” developed by Tel Aviv University is going to give you away #objectmagic
It’s made up of a carbon electrode, an adhesive surface and a nanotechnology-based conductive polymer coating whose sole purpose is to enhance the electrode’s power. The electrode is the key to everything. It can monitor your facial expressions by analyzing the electric signal sent by your muscles. By inviting you to use this in trials or focus groups, marketing teams and advertisers could have a better understanding of your feelings toward a product or situation than they would if they relied on questionnaires.
But that’s not all. This electronic tattoo can do much more good to patients who suffer from neurodegenerative diseases or who need to regain muscle control after a stroke or brain injury. Besides improving the life of those already suffering, it could also prevent more people from getting in trouble – like drivers on the road, who could employ it to monitor alertness levels.
