If you’re sick of having to say “Hey, Google” before yelling at the assistant to shut it up, good news!
The company finally added the Google Assistant “Stop” command to its smart assistant, on most of its speakers and smart displays.
If you want the assistant to quit droning on and on, just say “Stop” and it will pipe down even if you didn’t use its wake word.
Google has been working on making the smart assistant more responsive even without wake words since last year. Codenamed “Guacamole”, this feature lets you also cancel alarms by saying “Stop”.
The company is also working on a feature called “Quick Phrases” to let you be more direct.
With it, you’d be able to directly ask the Assistant What Time Is It or tell it to “Set the Alarm” without addressing it directly with “Hey, Google”.
