Google’s second attempt at a VR headset is finally ready to see the light! The device can now be purchased for $79 from Google Store, Best Buy or Verizon. Why the price increase? Find out below #realitymagic
The new headset is made from a mix of plastic and breathable fabric similar to the one used for your sport shirts. In fact, Google Daydream View looks like the sort of accessory you’d expect in a gym, insinuating an immersive, action-packed VR experience. Since it comes with a Bluetooth controller, don’t be surprised if you find yourself sweating after a baseball, bowling or space travelling session.
With this device, Google seems to have solved the problems Cardboard had in terms of materials, accessories and experience. In the meantime, the headset is still user-friendly and comfortable, with a new head strap. To connect your phone, you just have to take off the front flap, insert it and then it’s game on! No cables required.
What about content? Well, the library is in construction, so to speak. You have several titles waiting there but the real fun will begin when YouTube, Netflix, HBO and more will receive Daydream support.
