Huawei P30 Pro Confirmed With Periscope Zoom Camera

After Huawei’s Consumer Business Group CEO accidentally confirmed that the Huawei P30 Pro will arrive with a Leica quad camera, it looks like it was up to Huawei’s VP of Global Product Marketing, Clement Wong, turn to confirm – this time on purpose – another feature of the upcoming handset: a periscope zoom camera.

While Wong did not mention if we’re talking about a 5x or a 10x zoom camera, Bruce Lee, the Product Manager for Huawei, posted four photos on Weibo, which were taken around the Mobile World Congress Barcelona venue.

Rumor is that these photos were taken with our much talked-about Huawei P30 Pro, as they go from an ultra-wide angle to a zoomed view. The wide angle photo has a 20MP resolution but the telephoto shot is a 10MP one and it looks as if a 5x telephoto shot was extended to 10x via digital zoom.

Of course, Huawei won’t say a thing, teasing only that the upcoming flagship smartphone will do ‘something nobody has done before‘ and that it will ‘rewrite the rules‘.

We are quite curious to see what these big statements are all about but we have to be patient: Huawei will officially unveil the phone in Paris on March 26th.
