According to Taiwanese Commercial Times, Huawei will be the first TSMC customer to use the company’s 7+ nanometer and 5nm EUV (ultraviolet) processes.
Huawei is not the first to use 7nm chips from TSMC, other companies like Apple and AMD have announced they will be using them but Huawei is the first one whose chips will be fabricated on an EUV process.
Huawei will also be launching the Hi1711 chip next year, which will be using the TSMC 16nm process that will enable deep learning and machine learning.
TSMC stated that the 5nm EUV production is set to begin sometime in 2019 while the details about the 7+ process are scarce, to say the least.
