Seattle can be a pain if you depend on your car to move around the city. The traffic is impossible in most days, so local authorities partnered up with Siemens to enable smart traffic lights #softwaremagic
Starting July, drivers will start noticing a difference in traffic flow, as software Concert will take over the old traffic lights system. This will interpret information from Washington State Department of Transportation in real time, taking into account special events that might lead to congestions and dramatic changes in weather conditions. Of course, it will also juggle lights depending on functional or in-construction roads.
The idea is to manipulate lights minute-by-minute, once the program gets a real-time view of roads and cars.
“Our intelligent software platform will connect traditionally separate traffic systems in and around Seattle that will allow them better insight into their traffic flow, impact of accidents, and, ultimately, the ability to improve traffic and quality of life for their residents and visitors.” said Marcus Welz, president of Siemens Intelligent Traffic Systems.
