Every month for a while now Instagram has updated their app in one way or another, adding features more or less helpful. The new one to soon roll out globally is, however, truly practical: users’ ability to post 60-second long videos as one Instagram Story.
The last couple of months have seen Instagram deploying collab features and carousel edits. While creative, those haven’t been as sought after as the one coming up next.
Instagram is apparently testing already the option to upload a one minute video as just one Story, instead of trimming it automatically in several 15-second ones.
Matt Navarra, a social media consultant who is in the habit of spotting new Instagram features before everyone else, posted about it this week:
It seems the feature is already live for some users in Turkey but it’s hard to tell when the rest of the world will be able to benefit from it.
Focused on video content and Story formats, this feature is probably one more way for Instagram to leer users away from Snapchat and TikTok.
But, as you can imagine, the Meta company isn’t stopping here. Instagram’s next move is to redo the interface for posting Stories in a way that allows users to tag other accounts or add locations easier.
Stay tuned for more Instagram updates!
