Instagram Will Let You Know When to Take a Break From the App

We’ve all been there, falling into the rabbit hole, scrolling within our Instagram feed with no purpose at all. Well, a helpful hand is on its way, as Instagram is releasing a couple of new features meant to make it harder for users to spend too much time on the platform.

The feature is part of a bunch of new ones designed to protect young users, who are prone to develop unhealthy behaviors or even mental health issues because of social media.

Moreover, Instagram will now prevent users from tagging or mentioning teens who don’t follow them. The platform will also add some parental controls to help folks supervise the amount of time their children are dedicating to Instagram.

The Take a Break tool works by encouraging users to take a break from Instagram after they spend a certain period there.

How do you set it up? Simply go to Settings, and choose to be warned after using the platform for 10 minutes, 20 minutes or 30 minutes. By doing so, you will receive a notification advising you to leave the app, take some time for yourself and relax.

The feature will initially arrive in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia, while other regions will benefit from it in the upcoming months.
