Halloween is just around the corner so, of course, one of the most popular Social Media apps out there, Instagram, has debuted new AR masks and a shooting mode that’s equally hilarious and creepy. Called Superzoom, you’ll find it’s inspired by the viral “dramatic chipmunk” video #mobilemagic
The new shooting mode, Superzoom, can be found in Instagram Stories for iOS and Android. Simply tap the icon to create a new story and you’ll find it after Boomerang. To make a meme of yourself, switch to the front camera, press the shutter button to capture a three-second video of yourself or hold it down to record up to 15 seconds. Instagram takes care of the rest.
The video is also accompanied by a menacing sound that’s added automatically by the software, so you can’t edit it to your heart’s content from inside Instagram. In the end, you should get a video that resembles this hilarious meme and that can be shared with everyone, sent through Instagram Direct or saved in camera roll:

To achieve the superzoom in a steady video, Instagram uses special stabilization tech. As for Halloween effects, check the new AR masks in Instagram Stories. You can turn yourself instantly in a vampire or a zombie or go for more subtle effects, like a presence in the fog or a creepy face in the night, illuminated only by a flashlight.
