Did you know Winamp was still a thing? To our everlasting shame, we didn’t but we plan to make it right and download Winamp ASAP!
A new major update for Winamp, the first in the last four years, just dropped.
5.9 RC1 Build 1999 for Winamp is an update that changes nothing about how Winamp looks, so you can still get the late 90s – early 20s feel from this music app.
Instead, the update modernizes Winamp behind the scenes to make it ready for new features that could see it become more competitive with today’s popular apps like Spotify.
5.9 RC1 Build 1999 migrates all the Winamp code from Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 to Visual Studio 2019, updates the app with more codecs and makes it Windows 11 friendly.
So yes, Winamp on Windows 11 will definitely be a thing, so dust off your old hard drives for all those mp3s you collected for more than a decade.
