Kia Motors has also announced its presence at the 2019 Consumer Electronics Show, adding up to an already impressive list of carmakers that we will see there.
The company will be showcasing their Space of Emotive Driving technology, more specifically, their Real-time Emotion Adaptive Driving (R.E.A.D) system which was developed with the help of MIT’s Media Lab’s Affective Computing group.
The system employs the use of an AI-based bio signal recognition technology that can monitor a driver’s emotional state in real time, tailoring the vehicle’s interior environment to suit it, especially in the cases where it might detect a negative emotional state and will use its abilities in order to create a more soothing and relaxed environment.
“We have developed the R.E.A.D. system to create an interactive future-mobility in-cabin space by converging cutting-edge vehicle-control technology and AI-based emotional intelligence. Consequently, the R.E.A.D. system will enable continuous communication between a driver and the vehicle through the unspoken language of ‘emotional feeling’, thereby providing an optimised human senses-oriented space for drivers in real-time.”
Albert Biermann, Reasearch & Development Division President for Kia Motors
At the moment, Kia has not revealed a lot of details about their upcoming R.E.A.D technology but the official unveiling will take place during the CES and we have to admit we’re quite curious to see what they have in store for the drivers out there.
