Good news, Mac users! Once the new version of macOS Big Sur becomes widely available, you will soon be able to stream Netflix in 4K, with HDR.

According to a tweet from Ishan Agarwal (via 9to5Mac), a new Safari in macOS Big Sur unveiled a 4K Netflix stream with Dolby Vision on his MacBook Pro. As the new version of Safari is HDR video-friendly,Mac users could finally be able to watch their favorite Netflix programs within the best quality using their browsers.

Mac users know this means a great improvement, as currently watching Netflix in 4K is really, really difficult on macOS because the streaming service only supports Ultra HD on Microsoft Edge.

Of course, you can start Netflix in Windows on a Mac’s Boot Camp partition, but there’s too much trouble.

In order to benefit from the 4K HDR experience, you will also need a recent Mac device that provides HDR support. That won’t be too hard, as the Giant introduced HDR support since 2018.
