The release of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are right around the corner. In the lead up to the game, Nintendo is promoting several pre-order and early purchaser bonuses.
Players who adopt the game by February 21st, 2022 will have a chance at receiving a Manaphy Egg via the Mystery Gift function. In the original games, players were only able to receive the Manaphy Egg through a connection with Pokémon Ranger, a spin-off title on the DS. This time around, players simply to play to game for around two hours, at which point they will be able to access the Mystery Gift function.
Receiving Manaphy also gives players the ability to breed it to make Phione. Unless the game has changed, there will likely be no other in-game method to receive these two Pokémon.
Players who pre-order the games will receive Pokéballs in-game as a pre-order bonus. Ordering either game or the double pack digitally will net players 12 Quick Balls, which are especially potent when used to capture Pokémon at the start of an encounter. In addition to this, players who pre-order the double pack, either digitally or physically, will receive 200 Poké Balls. Pre-orders of the physical copy of the single version of the games will unfortunately not be receiving a pre-order bonus as part of this promotion.
Although it is unlikely these pre-order bonuses will move the needle too much in terms of who will pre-order the game – both Quick Balls and Poké Balls can be bought in-game relatively cheaply – the Pokémon Presents surely sold people on the remakes. Although the aesthetic choice is still controversial, it does look a little better than the first trailer and developers added popular quality-of-life features.
Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl will be available November 19th, 2021.
