Tony Scott’s legendary drama is the latest movie to receive the power of “IMAX at home”, with the Maverick-featuring film now released in IMAX Enhanced format, on FandangoNOW in the US.
The Top Gun IMAX Enhanced release translates into IMAX digitally remastered 4K HDR content with DTS audio rounding up the home cinema experience.
The launch of Top Gun IMAX Enhanced is intended to pave the way to the long-awaited sequel, Top Gun: Maverick, due to be released at the end of 2020.
For those who want to live out a movie at cinema quality from the comfort of their home, the IMAX Enhanced technology is enabling the 4K HDR picture they want.
“Select IMAX Enhanced content features its signature expanded aspect ratio – enabling viewers the full scope and scale of the picture.
IMAX and DTS have also partnered with award-winning Hollywood sound mixers to use a special variant of the DTS:X codec technology integrated in home audio equipment to deliver an IMAX signature sound experience with more immersive, powerful sound,” said IMAX and Xperi, the DTS:X developer, about the partnership.
With Top Gun an exclusivity for FandangoNOW, other users can reorient to four other major streaming platforms that offer hundreds of IMAX Enhanced 4K HDR movies with DTS audio, as just last month the tech developers announced a major partnership with Sony.
Through it, hundreds of premium re-releases of Sony movies will be launched in the near future, with the new Bad Boys or the Spider-Man Series already available.
