Micron Introduces The 1TB microSD Card

Micron

Micron took to the MWC Barcelona 2019 stage to launch its 1TB microSD card dubbed the Micron c200 1TB microSDXC UHS-1. While it might not be easy to say its three times very fast, we do have to admit that our need for more and more storage doesn’t look like it plans to diminish any time soon – on the contrary, and that is why the 1TB microSD card arrives at just the right time.

We’ve started to play mobile games that demand more memory and took to storing pretty much our entire lives in the devices we keep in our pockets – and it’s for these devices that Micron’s new card is specifically designed.

Micron’s technology leadership in 3D NAND with CMOS under the array and 96-layer QLC has been instrumental in developing and launching the world’s first 1TB microSD card,” Aravind Ramamoorthy, senior director of NAND solutions for Micron’s Embedded Business Unit was quoted as sayingThe new c200 1TB microSD card gives consumers the freedom to capture, share, store and enjoy more content while supporting their mobile-centric lifestyles.

The card is capable of up to 100MB/s read and 95MB/s write so it’s fast enough to handle 4K UHD video recordings or playback. In addition, the card also meets the A2 Application Performance Class which, in a nutshell, translates into: it’s perfectly suitable to be used for mobile apps as it promises fast loading times.

Micron will release the c200 series this year but we don’t know anything about pricing or an official release date.

For the moment, that is – we’ll be interviewing Micron and maybe we’ll find out more details for you, so stay tuned.
