MicroSD, Replaced By The World’s First UFS Card From Samsung

MicroSD storage is usual in Android phones but usual doesn’t means the best. In fact, Samsung believes the next big thing in memory cards will come under the form of a UFS (Universal Flash Storage) and we can’t agree more. In fact, the first UFS cards saw the light of the day today #hardwaremagic

Samsung scored another “world first” with removable UFS memory cards that go from 32GB to 256GB. These tiny cards have sequential read speeds of up to 530 megabytes per second, that’s about five times faster than the best microSD cards you can find on the market. That’s not all; UFS will make you a true believer thanks to super write speeds, up to  170 MB/s.

The company improved memory cards knowing that users will invest more and more time, energy and physical resources in shooting videos with 360-degree cameras and “playing” with drones and action cameras. So far, their embedded storage solution is in the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge but hasn’t crossed the Samsung threshold.

We’ll have to wait and see how companies assimilate this idea and how will Samsung sell their UFS cards.
