The anticipated Halo Infinite launch was one of the casualties of 2020 but the 2021 holiday season promises to bring the latest Halo to shelves.
Microsoft revealed a new Halo Infinite gameplay trailer during their E3 2021 keynote on Sunday.
Accompanying the trailer was also a new launch date – holiday 2021. The biggest news? You’ll find out what happened to Cortana.
If you missed Cortana and Master Chief and want to see where their story goes, you’ll be happy to hear this.
“We are continuing the story of the Master Chief and Cortana from Halo 5, but also telling a story that’s welcoming for new players. Cortana’s fate is one of the Infinite campaign’s big mysteries, and early in the story, you will meet a new UNSC AI, “the Weapon”, that was created to help stop Cortana. Together with the Pilot, the Master Chief, and the Weapon begin an epic adventure to explore Zeta Halo, defeat the Banished forces who control the ring, and unravel even more mysteries along the way,” tease the developers.
Originally, Halo Infinite was supposed to launch in November 2020 but last August its developer, 343 Industries, delayed it because of the COVID-19 pandemic and other factors.
Now, Halo Infinite was one of E3 2021 biggest games, with a good look into the multiplayer component and the new grappling hook.
“When it comes to gameplay, our goal is to deliver a multiplayer experience that honors classic Halo combat while also offering new players the support needed to jump in and have a great time. To that end, we’re introducing the Spartan Academy and Spartan Commander Laurette who will help players familiarize themselves with maps, weapons, and equipment. We’re also introducing bot matches so players new and old can warm up before they hit the battlefield,” said the developers in a blog post.
