China might have banned everything related to cryptocurrency but soon they’ll have to ban hamsters as well.
In this “the web is a wonderland” news item, an actual hamster called Mr Goxx is doing online trading and beating human investors.
Named after the Mt Gox disaster that saw thousands of crypto traders losing their funds, this hamster is going all-in in the crypto-market and coming up on top.
His story is presented in an incredibly funny and somehow alarming BBC report that explains how Mr Goxx does crypto-trading and what his owners had in mind when setting up this project.
The idea is simple:
The Mr Goxx hamster runs on his “intention wheel”connected to an Arduino. The wheel can land on different cryptocurrency coin options. Wherever the wheel stops, that’s the coin he selects.
Then, if he runs into the tunnel marked “Buy” or “Sell”, the transaction goes through.
You can watch Mr Goxx spinning the wheel everyday on Twitch and find out when he goes live by keeping up with him on Twitter.
And what do his humans have to say?
“We felt that everything keeps getting more expensive these days and building savings is super-hard to achieve with high rents to pay,” they said.
It seems like most people from our generation see no other chance than throwing a lot of their savings on the crypto market, without having a clue what’s going on there.
We were joking about whether my hamster would be able to make smarter investment decisions than we humans do,” said the two men behind the hamster.
And lo and behold, the hamster does turn a profit! Mr Goxx actually outperformed both the S&P 500 and billionaire Warren Buffett, with 24% returns in the past few months.
