NAB Show, the largest event for technology and entertainment, is happening now in Las Vegas with a clear focus on… 360-degree video and VR (not the same things, kids!). Some of the first news that got us excited involve… the almighty Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects #realitymagic
In the first day of #nabshow, Premiere Pro announced full VR video support. That means, after the recent update, you can import footage in the VR video mode to preview it on your monitors using arrows to move around after adjusting the settings to tell the program what you’re working with. At the end, new metadata flags will make sure your project is ready to be viewed in sites that support such content – YouTube and Facebook, for example:

After using Mettle to create 360-degree video in After Effects, the company is ready to take it at the next level with Skybox360/VR Tools for Premiere Pro. For $189, you can add text, logos and layer 2D video on 360 degree footage. You can also unleash your creativity by blurring/sharpening footage, adjusting the horizon line or adding denoise.
Moreover, they are now offering the first set of transitions for 360-degree video. Gradient wipe, random blocks, iris wipe and mobius (a transition that will give the user an impression of being pulled out of one world into another) will be part of the new plugin set. NVIDIA Quadro GPUs provide the immense processing power needed to make quick work of these tasks.
“We’ve relied on the GPU since the beginning,” said Chris Bobotis, creative director and co-founder at Mettle. “We’re now in the process of transitioning from OpenGL to the NVIDIA CUDA 8 framework, a move that will amp up our processing speed considerably and ensure SkyBox runs even faster within the GPU-accelerated Mercury Playback Engine of Adobe Premiere Pro CC.”
