For home security, there are dozens if not hundreds of indoor cams but few support Apple HomeKit, let alone dare to use the platform exclusively.
Eve Systems is stepping up to the plate with the HomeKit-exclusive Eve Cam indoor security camera, an $150 device.
For that, you get the standard functionality of a security camera.
The Eve Cam offers 1080p video with an 150-degree field of view, night vision (up to 16.4 feet away), infrared motion detectors and two-way communication.
Of course, to take advantage of it, you will need a hub like HomePod or an Apple TV, alongside an iCloud plan with a minimum of 200 GB storage to see and keep the video recordings of the cam.
The Eve Cam will start shipping on June 23rd and pre-orders are open now.
As you can see on the website, Eve Systems put a strong emphasis on privacy and security: you don’t need to create an account for the Eve Cam and there is no Eve cloud.
The footage itself is analyzed, then encrypted, before being sent to your iCloud.
