Spotify is constantly trying to come up with exciting new updates for both artists and listeners and is now experimenting with a new feature.
The experimental feature makes it possible for creators to decide which specific songs or albums to be boosted from their creations. The chosen tunes and albums will appear more in user recommendations, and in this way, artists get to choose which song is prioritized by the algorithm.
“Artists and labels can identify music that is a priority for them, and our system will add that signal to the algorithm that determines personalized listening sessions. This allows our algorithms to account for what’s important to the artist – perhaps a song they are particularly excited about, an album anniversary they are celebrating, a viral cultural moment they are experiencing, or other factors they care about,” the company stated.
The limited new feature has benefits for both parties, as it helps users find new musical content, while artists can influence which of their content is being promoted on the app.
The company stated that it cannot guarantee the content will get a top position, highlighting that ultimately, users’ happiness is the company’s main goal.
