Not so long ago, Nike has filed trademark applications as part of its preparations to acquire the RTFKT Studios to sell virtual sneakers and apparel that exists online in the shape of non-fungible tokens.
With the RTFKT Studios, the company aims to blast the popularity of virtual footwear in the online world with its real-world creations. As the market of virtual products is experiencing an all-time high, Nike also has big plans for RTFKT and hopes the company will so accelerate its digital transformation.
“We’re acquiring a very talented team of creators with an authentic and connected brand. Our plan is to invest in the RTFKT brand, serve and grow their innovative and creative community and extend Nike’s digital footprint and capabilities.”
On Twitter, the startup said that it “will continue to evolve [its] brand, innovations, products, and community with Nike resources and talents. Founded in 2020, RTFKT has so far been known for designing and creating the “metaverse-ready sneakers and collectibles”.
