Nikon has decided to unveil a more affordable camera to start the year with: the Coolpix A1000.
It’s more compact than its other, bulkier siblings, which makes it a perfect travel camera. It has a 35x optical zoom, a range of 24-840mm with a 1/2.3 inch sensor with a 16MP resolution, which easily takes over other similar, rival cameras that feature 24-720mm zoom lenses.
The camera has an ISO of 6400 and can shoot in .RAW format, which is no small feat for a travel camera. It also has a lens-based vibration reduction system that helps out when shooting stills and features a similar system for 4K video recording.
The Coolpix A1000 comes equipped with a 1,166K dot electronic viewfinder with an eye sensor and a 3.0 inch tilt-angle display on the back that also benefits from touchscreen control.
Meanwhile, the Snap-back zoom button can shift the zoom position to a wide-angle side that can deliver better framing when you shoot subjects in motion.
The camera will be on sale sometime at the end of January with a price tag of £409. At the moment, U.S and Australian prices are still awaiting confirmation.
