Although the Nintendo Switch is an incredibly polished and popular console, it isn’t without its flaws. Namely, the Switch’s Joy-Cons have been prone to drift. While Nintendo has set up a repair system, the company finally acknowledged and apologized for this hardware flaw.
According to a report by Kotaku, Nintendo’s president Shuntaro Furukawa apologized as the company’s recent financial Q&A. However due to the class action lawsuit currently directed towards the company with regards to their Joy-Con drift, Furukawa was reticent about the company’s plans moving forward: “Regarding the Joy-Con, we apologize for any trouble caused to our customers.”
Currently, when Joy-Cons dirft, owners can apply for a repair here. However, given the global COVID-19 pandemic, repair locations have been shuttered and are only recently starting to reopen.
Hopefully, this acknowledgement means that Nintendo will work on improving their Joy-Con hardware quality.
