Nintendo is preparing to unplug all streaming video services on the Wii console, according to some Reddit users who received an e-mail from Netflix with a notice to let them know that Nintendo will be suspending the streaming services after January 2019.

Unfortunately, Nintendo will suspend all video streaming services on Wii—including the Netflix Channel—after January 31, 2019.

We hope you’ll soon enjoy an even better Netflix experience with additional features on a supported device. Please visit netflix.com/wii for our device list.

While this might hint that the console will turn to a Switch app, we might as well take it at face value – the Wii console is, after all, 12 years old already and Netflix comes out of the box for most of the TVs nowadays.

On that same date, Nintendo will also be closing down the Wii Shop Channel which means the users will not be able to download the WiiWare and Virtual Console titles they bought anymore and neither transfer data from a Wii to a Wii U via the System Transfer Tool.
