One Plus decided to sell their latest flagship, the much-awaited One Plus 3, in another dimension. Let me explain: the company gave away 30.000 VR headsets, because, of course, the smartphone launching event will happen in virtual reality #realitymagic

Just 5 hours ago, One Plus announced the “world’s first global shopping experience in VR”. For those of you who have been looking for updates from the company, the mysterious expression led you to believe, correctly, that they were referring to the latest One plus 3. Indeed, the idea was to organize a virtual reality event where a chosen few would have the occasion to buy the smartphone before everyone else.

In order to do that, One Plus built a VR headset called Loop VR that weighs 366 grams and offers a field of view of 100 degrees. It matches with any 5 to 6-inch smartphone and can be used to access the store this summer.

A good marketing stunt, but was it a success? The numbers suggest so. In just 5 hours, all 30.000 headsets were claimed free of charge (just with shipping costs)! It’s obvious that the interest in virtual reality is increasing rapidly, making 2016 the year of VR. As for the lucky “few” who claimed a pair, Loop VR will start reaching their homes after June 6.
