OnePlus 6 Announces Red Variant for July Release

OnePlus 6 has been launched quite successfully in May but they don’t seem to want to rest on that success for too long.

After the Soft White OnePlus 6 was released on June 5th, you’d think they’d keep it monochrome, but instead, they’re releasing a Red variant to go on sale starting July 10th.

The OnePlus 6 Red and its shimmery finish with silver accents will be coming to India and North America first and eventually it will land in Europe as well, but no dates concerning its release on the old continent have been made available yet.

In the U.S it will come with a price tag of $579 for a 128GB of storage option with 8GB of RAM.

Alright, you might say red is red and who cares but OnePlus went beyond just slapping some red paint over the phone’s case. The company applied an evaporated layer of brightening film on top of the red coating so the color would really pop and maintain brightness. Over it there is also an anti-reflective layer which allows more light to reach the red coating before the device reflects it off.

All in all, we’re counting six panels of glass on the OnePlus 6 Red’s back and each layer costs an additional $5 to produce. Even so, the company decided to keep the phone at the same price as the other variants.

OnePlus says it managed to sell one million units of the OnePlus6 launched in May in only 22 days so their eagerness to offer more to the public and continue riding the wave is completely justified.
