OnePlus has announced its starting to introduce the new Oxygen 11 OS on OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro. The operating system has been in open beta testing for the past few weeks and will now be widely available. The new update will start rolling out to a few users today, and gradually expand to more users in the following days.
The Oxygen 11 OS skin is basically Android 11, but with a major design change that differs from the near-stock Android look previous versions received. The redesigned OS even has a new OnePlus Sans font, which the company says it improves readability. The new Oxygen 11 OS brings long-awaited features like always-on ambient display, Dark Mode, the Weather app, and Zen Mode. There are also many improvements for gamers, including a quick reply for Instagram and WhatsApp.
OnePlus recommends your device should be charged to at least 30% before starting the update and have at least 3GB of free storage space available on the phone.
The Oxygen 11 OS update will be available for many older phones, but it will take some time for that to happen. The OnePlus 7T Pro, OnePlus 7T, OnePlus 7Pro, OnePlus 7, OnePlus 6T, OnePlus 6, and OnePlus Nord will have to wait a while for the new operating system. The OnePlus 8T, on the other hand, is expected to run Oxygen 11 out of the box.
