OnePlus has finally announced that its OnePlus TV is on its way: it will be launching on September 26th, in India, according to the company’s Twitter.
The announcement came along with a teaser video which ends with the text “Evolution is around the corner”.

The video led many to believe that the OnePlus phones might also end up playing a part in how the TVs will be operated. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau himself shared another tweet on his own account saying that the OnPlus TV users will also be able to control it via their smartphones, though he did not mention the OnePlus phones specifically.
Shortly after that particular tweet, Lau made yet another one, showcasing how the users will be able to search for content on their OnePlus TV by typing in the queries on their phones.
The tweet was accompanied by a GIF which showed a search query for Wonder Woman. The results show the film but also additional instruction on how to exit the typing mode on the smartphone. By the looks of it, the integration is quite snappy, so the addition would be welcome for those of us who have just had enough of remote controls.
Interface-wise, it all looks pretty nice and clean but OnePlus is still holding its card close to its chest so we’ll have to wait for a few more leaks or for the official unveiling to truly grasp on what the TV is capable of.
