Everyone wants to see Oppo F9 at IFA 2018 but the cat was out of the bag much earlier on a couple of details. After last week’s leak, Oppo went ahead and officially announced the Oppo F9, a flashy offering.
It’s hard to peel your eyes from the Sunrise Red or Twilight Blue petal-shaped pattern on the back and its shifting hues, not to mention the Starry Purple version, but do make an effort because the screen is just as gorgeous.
Reminiscent of the petal-like pattern on the back is also the tear-drop notch on the huge, 6.3-inch FHD+ screen. With a 90.8% screen to body ratio and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, the selfies you take with the 25 MP AI front camera with software-embedded HDR will definitely provide a visual feast. As Oppo points out, the Oppo F9 brings a premiere for the F series, adding depth of field effects to the dual rear 16 MP + 2 MP camera with f/1.8 + f/2.4 aperture.
The rest of the Oppo F9 specs are nothing to sniff at as well. Running Color OS 5.2 on top of Android 8.1, the Oppo F9 pairs a MediaTek Helio P60 12nm processor with an ARM Mali-G72 MP3 GPU clocked an 800 MHz and will be available in two options – 4 GB or 8 GB of ram, both of them shipping with 64 GB of storage expandable via microSD.
Everything will be powered by a big, 3,500 mAh battery with fast charge that lets you do 2 hours of talk for just 5 minutes of charging. Want to know more about how that works? Check out this video.
Truth be told, the only disappointing thing about Oppo F9 is that it doesn’t come with the extra-strong Gorilla Glass 6 screen, as everyone expected it to. What now remains to be seen is the pricing, as Oppo kept quiet on that front. Stay tuned for impressions about how the Oppo F9 looks (and glitters!), since we will cover the Oppo F9 and all the other amazing devices at IFA Berlin later this month.
