One of the most groundbreaking phones of this year is said to be Oppo Find X5 Pro, the sequel to Find X3 Pro. Here’s everything we know about this much awaited Android smartphone.
Oppo Find X5 Pro: The Bold Design Returns
With a design like no other, incorporating a camera “hill” instead of the usual square-ish cutout, it wasn’t hard for Find X3 Pro to make it on the best phones list in 2021. But that wasn’t the only thing that set the phone apart. In fact, it’s very likely think that we will see a repeat this year thanks to some great hardware and software.
A beast like Find X5 Pro – that’s the name Oppo is probably going to use for this year’s flagship – will ship with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.
Oppo Find X5 Pro: Why is Marisilicon Important
What’s interesting, however, is the other chip, the neural processing unit. We’re talking about the first NPU coming out from Oppo’s factories and it’s called Marisilicon.
The Marisilicon chip will be focused on enhancing image processing. It will make the Find X5 Pro capable of real-time RAW processing and 20 bit ultra-high dynamic range.
It is also going to take 4K recording to the next level and bring live preview for Android phones, for the first time.
Processing is going to be a breeze and camera capturing won’t disappoint either.
On one hand, all the software goodies granted by Hasselblad to the OnePlus 10 Pro will be coming to this model, too. Will that make the OnePlus 10 Pro and Oppo Find X5 Pro identical? Not really.
Oppo Find X5 Pro: The Missing Camera
The main camera and tele of Find X5 Pro are going to get an upgrade. X5 Pro will come with a 50MP main and a 13MP tele, with an ultrawide as good as the main camera which is something more phones should do, if you ask me.
Then, the ring light “microscope” camera won’t make it to the final product. While it was definitely an eye-catcher on the Find X3 Pro, it did not prove very useful to the casual user.
This year, the camera bump will be made up of two big lenses stacked vertically and a third one in a glass case above the flash. Yet again, Oppo succeeded in keeping the clean, flowy design of its predecessor – a big market differentiator that works for them, not against them.
Oppo Find X5 Pro: Display, Battery and Launch Date
Some things, however, are going to stay the same. The specs we appreciated last year are returning, like a 6.7-inch, 120Hz display and 12GB of RAM. The display should behave flawlessly, after Oppo tweaked it like a mad man last year, even making sure it could adjust to different levels of color blindness.
Battery will make an exception as it is going to be improved in every single way from a bigger cell – 5,000mAh – to better charging. We’ll go from a mere 65W wired charging to 80W and with 50W wireless charging aboard.
The phone should come to market this March, targeting a European audience as well.
At this point, does Oppo Find X5 Pro have any drawback you can think of?
