Pokémon GO has been a global phenomenon since it was released in 2016. With constant updates, new Pokémon, and events, Pokémon GO has retained a steady user base. Even as Pokémon GO users have had to stay inside thanks to the global pandemic, developer Niantic has announced they will bring back Pokémon GO Fest.

Pokémon GO Fest in the past have been located in a couple physical locations with special challenges and rewards, events, and Team based lounges. Last year, Pokémon GO Fest was held in Chicago, Dortmund, and Yokohama.

Given the pandemic, people traveling to these locations and congregating is not the safest idea. In a press release, Niantic stated that they will be hosting Pokémon GO Fest on July 25th and 26th globally. Players will be able to attend from the comfort of their own homes: “Pokémon GO Fest 2020 will take place as an entirely global event in a virtual format, which will allow Trainers worldwide to participate from wherever they play.”

It is unclear how that will look, but the perks of Pokémon GO Fest – challenges, rewards, and bonuses – will be available to all who attend. Unfortunately, there may still be tickets to attend ($25 per day for the 2019 Chicago event). Pricing, event details and more will be announced as we draw closer to the event.
