NVIDIA will be hosting the annual GPU Technology Conference (GTC) next week in California and everybody is wondering exactly what the company will be bringing to the table: we’ve had our hands full of the new GeForce GTX lineup recently so the question remains.
According to Anthony Gareffa of Tweak Town, NVIDIA is expected to release an answer to AMD’s Radeon VII, which was released in February and that answer might take shape in the Ampere generation, which would also feature, just like the Radeon VII, a 7nm architecture. But take it with a grain of salt – there’s no official statements or even any leaks pointing in the Ampere direction for the moment.
In addition to that, AMD is also rumored to be gearing up for the release of the Navi GPU on 7nm later in the year, which means that NVIDIA will have to squeeze the throttle and speed ahead in order to catch up with its most prominent rival.
If the Ampere does prove to be real, the GTC would be the perfect place to introduce it so hopefully we’ll get some leaks happening soon, to get the rumor mill going before the conference, but rest assured that we’ll keep you updated as soon as something comes up.
