What’s worse than Natasha Lyonne dying and reviving each day? The writers of Russian Doll season two think time travel is the answer.
The cult Netflix series and one of the best Netflix shows of all time is back after a few years hiatus.
Russian Doll, a show co-created by Natasha Lyonne, Amy Poehler, and Leslye Headland, debuted in 2019 and was quickly showered in praise for its quirky premise.
Natasha Lyonne played Nadia Vulvokov, a rough, chain-smoking and high-strung game developer who, on the night of her birthday party, died.
And then came back. And died again, came back, and so on, all the while trying to figure out why she was essentially “respawning” like a video game character.

“Discovering a fate even worse than endless death, this season finds Nadia and Alan delving deeper into their pasts through an unexpected time portal located in one of Manhattan’s most notorious locations, the New York City subway. At first they experience this as an ever-expanding, era-spanning, intergenerational adventure, but they soon discover this extraordinary event might be more than they bargained for and, together, must search for a way out.”
Russian Doll S2 arrives on Netflix on April 20, 2022.
