Even though the history of the Snap Spectacles was certainly troubled, with lots of items going unsold, the social media giant isn’t backing down from the wearable arena anytime soon.

Snap Inc just launched Snap Spectacles 3, a pair of smart sunglasses with much better specs than the previous generations but a spicy price tag that reflects that upgrade.

They’re $380, quite the hike from $150 – $200 for older models.

At first look, the Spectacles 3 won’t be mistaken for a pair of regular sunglasses like their predecessors, instead choosing a high-tech design that looks just as sleek in Carbon or Mineral (black).

Moving on to specs, Snap’s Spectacles 3 use two HD cameras to take snaps and transform them using 3D Effects

“Snaps captured using Spectacles 3 seamlessly transfer in HD to Memories within Snapchat to add new lighting, landscapes, and other magical effects to an entire scene with a swipe. Snaps can also export to Camera Roll as circular, horizontal, square and virtual reality formats for saving, editing, sharing, and reliving, anywhere,” teased Snap a while back.

For video, Snap says you can capture and sync up up to 70 videos in 1216 x 1216 px at 60 fps per full charge – if you’re running low, the charging case can bring the glasses up to 50% in 15 minutes and up to 100% in just 75 minutes.

As for photos, you take them in 1728 x 1728 px and the 4 GB of storage lets you keep up to 1,200 3D photos.

And yes, if you just want to not Snap for a bit, the Spectacles 3 do a decent job of being fashionable sunglasses, with a tint for 100% UVA and UVB protection and a category 3 lens for glare reduction.

If you want to try them on before placing a pre-order, you can do so using Snapchat or use the official website to find a store.
