The good news: Sony just announced the PS5 launch date and price.
The PS5 will launch on November 12 and will retail for $500, with the PS5 Digital Edition with no optical disk for $400.
The not-so-good news?
The previous rumors were true and some PS5-exclusive games will retail for $70, a $10 increase from the regular console game launch price of $59.99.
We got a hint of this when 2K announced that NBA 2K21 will be sold for $10 more than usual and it seems Sony is also on board.
“Our own Worldwide Studios titles will be priced from $49.99 to $69.99 on PS5,” said a Sony rep on the official blog.
It’s quite a significant increase, but fortunately the $70 PS5 games won’t be all there is on offer.
Among the games with the bigger price tag are Demon’s Souls, Destruction AllStars, and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition, though the last one does include a code to download a remaster of the previous game.

At the PS5 reveal event there were plenty of new games on display.
Notably among them are the new Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, God of War:Ragnarok, Resident Evil: Village and the long-rumored Harry Potter RPG, Hogwarts Legacy, coming in 2021.
All of them were introduced with teasers or trailers and it’s unclear how much they will retail for.
Hopefully some will keep the regular $59.99 price tag.
