The first SteelSeries Nimbus Bluetooth controller can be called a success for the company. It has an affordable price range, comes with a smart grip for mobile devices, and supports a PC and mobile interface. The new Nimbus Plus is an upgrade of its predecessor.
The recently announced controller comes with updates like clickable joysticks, ultra-responsive triggers, Apple compatibility, charging via a Lightning connector, and a whopping 50 hours battery life!
The Nimbus Plus comes with iPhone (MFi) certification, the Apple licensing program providing third-party manufacturers with the tools to take advantage of the advanced features available on Apple’s hardware and proposes optimized mapping, as well as many other features.
The Nimbus Plus is the second controller to support clickable joysticks, a new enhancement to the MFi certified family, that was previously only available with the Rotor Riot controller.
The pack also includes the Smart Grip, which allows the user to mount an iPhone on top of the controller, resulting in better user experience. You can pair your iPhone, iPad, or any other Apple device and start enjoying your games on the go, or from the comfort of your couch.
Apple stated, for The Verge, that the Nimbus Plus allows users to play tons of Apple Arcade games across the company’s devices, like iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, and Mac.
The Apple Arcade service has considerably increased the number of titles available on the platform, and the majority of games support external game controllers. For Apple users considering getting a Nimbus Plus, this constitutes good news.
The Nimbus Plus is not out yet, but it’s available for purchase on Apple’s site for $69.99 as of now, set to be released on May 26.
