Just as Elon Musk promised at the beginning of the month, 30 lucky owners can now enjoy their Tesla Model 3 electric car.
The fun part? It requires no car keys, so you can unlock it with your phone via Bluetooth digital key. In need of a valet? Each car comes with a couple of NFC cards for unlocking and start-up.
While the Model S sedan and the Model X SUV were pretty pricey, the Model 3 is a more affordable electric car model. It costs around 35000 for the base model and analysts speculate that pretty soon, buyers will be able to get both a second motor for an all wheel drive capabilities and a larger battery for more mileage.
As for the specs, the base Tesla Model 3 electric car offers:
-
- 0-60 acceleration in 5.6 seconds
- 130 MPH top speed
- 220 mile range
- 5 adults space and 15 cubic feet storage space
The supercharge capability allows you to get 130 miles of range for 30 minutes charging time at a station. For those alimenting at home on a 240V power system, the rate drops to 30 miles of range per hour.
The Premium Upgrades Package costs $5,000 and brings premium seats with heating, fog lamps, heated sideview mirrors and a dual smartphone dock in the center console.
For an extra $5,000, you can get autopilot enabled. This allows the Tesla Model 3 electric car to “match speed to traffic conditions, keep within a lane, automatically change lanes, transition from one freeway to another, exit the freeway and self-park at your destination”.
Compared to the Model S, the Model 3 offers a single 15-inch display screen and around 100 customization options, while the S comes with dual digital displays and over 1,500 customization schemes.
