Ready for the 120W race? If you didn’t know, Xiaomi and Vivo are both charging towards the finish line. Xiaomi is said to bring it forward with Mi 10 Pro Plus while Vivo… well, this is what we know about their next device.
The phone is most likely a iQOO handset, as the brand “coincidentally” unveiled their 120W fast charging system at the end of July. Plus, a teaser from the brand showed up today announcing a surprise for August 17, just a week from the Xiaomi event.
So, we’re looking at an iQOO flagship that you’ll be able to charge in just 15 minutes (!), even faster than what Oppo can do with their tech now. How is that even possible? Well, the companies took different approaches to reach a similar goal. Oppo uses three charge pumps to take 20V 6.25A from the adapter and convert them to 10V 12.5A. iQOO, however, pulled off 20V at 6A, and then used two charge pumps to convert it to two 5V 12A currents.
Since there’s also been talk about an upcoming iQOO 5, it’s not hard to connect the dots and speculate that this will indeed be the handset with the 120W charging capability. It will also be a phone powered by the Snapdragon 865 chipset, with a 120Hz display.
Excited? Us too!
