Don’t look now, but Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 is making its way to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and… the Nintendo Switch?!
In a tweet from the game’s official account, it was announced that the fan-favorite remake of a fan-favorite series would be making its way to the next generation consoles on March 26th. The Nintendo Switch version is set to come out sometime in 2021.
For users who currently own the game on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, Activision is allowing version upgrades and progress transfers. Upgrading is free (other than in Japan, where it will cost 100 Yen), according the an FAQ. However, owners of specifically the physical versions of the game on Xbox One will not be able to upgrade. Video Games Chronicles note that “digital players can upgrade to the Cross-Gen Deluxe Bundle for an additional $10.” This bundle comes with a new skater and some cosmetic items.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 join a plethora of games jumping to cross-generation with the release of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. However, the Switch version is an unexpected, and welcome, addition, giving gamers new ways and places to play.
