Whatsapp is working on a feature that would automatically convert voice notes into text messages.
The rumored feature was originally spotted in the service’s iOS app by WABetaInfo, while the company said it’s at “very early stages of designing and prototyping” this feature.
WABetaInfo said the feature operates by transferring speech data to Apple to process it, while the data will also help Apple gain better knowledge of its speech recognition technology.
According to WhatsApp, the feature will benefit from end-to-end encryption on launch and a system meant to support the privacy and security of messages.
Of course, iPhone users will have to allow WhatsApp to access this service and agree to their data being processed.
However, we can’t tell yet when the new functionality will arrive for the WhatsApp beta for iPhone users or for Android.
