Xbox has confirmed they will be hosting a presentation at the Tokyo Game Show.
According to VGC, this presentation will have exclusive news targeting the Japanese audience. It is unclear what these announcements may, but it is certainly part of the company’s push in the region.
Historically, Xbox has done poorly in Japan in terms of sales, both objectively and relatively to PlayStation and Nintendo. The company has tried to broaden its reach in the country, with Head of Xbox Phil Spencer remarking that Xbox needs to do better in the region.
Nintendo continues to have a tight grasp on the Japanese market, what with the top 30 most sold games in the first week of August all being sold for the Nintendo Switch. Sony, on the other hand, recently downsized its Japan-focused first-party studio Japan Studio into just Team Asobi.
The Xbox Tokyo Game Show Showcase 2021 will be held September 30th at 6pm Japanese Standard Time.
