Xiaomi president and co-founder Lin Bin has pretty much officially confirmed that the company is not only working on a foldable phone but that they already have a prototype ready and functional.
Lin Bin took to Weibo to post a teaser video of himself using a device that we’re led to believe is a small tablet, up to the moment he folds its sides and uses it like a smartphone.
The UI adjusts itself to the new size and occupies only the middle part of the screen without any prompting from the user, other than the act of folding it.
Bin states that the phone is just an engineering model for now and has not revealed any specs that come with it but has asked the users what name they think would fit the phone best.
“I think of two,” Bin says in the post “Xiaomi Dual Flex, Xiaomi MIX Flex. We welcome everyone to make suggestions!” he continues, hinting that the phone will most likely go in production and probably sooner than we’d expect.
